Subsequent news reports (if we can call it that) have stated that our dearly departed musical genius may have been a victim of pain medication overdose due to hip pain. My self educated guess is that he may have suffered from some form of arthritis that resulted in a deterioration of his hip joint. Many people do not want to take the risk of a joint replacement. About 1% of joint replacements do not have optimal outcome (as stated by my orthopedic surgeon). Even though 1 in 100 is quite rare to a surgeon when you are the possible 1 of that 100 it seems pretty risky.
Pain medications are designed to become addictive, just like street drugs, food, sugar, and anything else our brains experience being the most amazing computer ever designed not by man... they lay down a path of memory after the first altering of brain chemistry. Every time following the first time a person ingests, injects or inhales any substance that alters our brain chemistry there is a memory attached and the brain knows and remembers it. Therefore, the affect is not as effective as it was the previous time.
People who become addicted to pain medication are stuck in a trap that was laid for them by western medicine. They do not overdose on purpose and they are not bad, weak or lack good character. These people are simply trying to get relief from the pain that they are experiencing and they have been placed (by trusting their doctor) on the treadmill of commercialized healthcare that will kill you if you do not educate and advocate for yourself.
Since the advent of the internet we have the world of information overload in the palm of our hands. We have no excuse for ignorance concerning our health and well being. It takes will, effort, lots of time and some desperation to be well but you will find if you seek and become relentless on your own behalf.
I regret that Prince Rogers-Nelson has died and that I will not have the opportunity to see him perform live or buy another new album that he was so incredibly good at making. It is a sad and terrible loss when anyone dies for their family, friends and even those who enjoyed their presence in this world through their work.
